In case you didn’t know, we’ve got a presidential election scheduled this year.
It’s on Tuesday, November 3. So make sure to save the date.
According to everyone, this presidential election matters. And I happen to agree.
No matter which side of the political aisle you fall on, you’ve got to understand there’s a lot riding on your vote.
With that said, I strongly believe there’s a lot riding on your vote every time around. That’s true whether it’s for a federal, state, or local-level politician.
Who we choose to write, pass, and enforce our laws matters immensely. Because who we choose to write, pass, and enforce our laws affects us, our families, and our finances.
This should be an obvious fact. Yet it’s too often overlooked until after the people’s votes are over and congressional votes are taking place instead.
By then, it’s too late. The power is out of out hands.
Why Don’t We Vote?
ThoughtCo released a write-up last March titled, “Why Don’t More Americans Vote?” Here’s part of what it had to say:
“Since the 1980s, voter turnout has been decreasing steadily in the United States… Political scientists generally attribute falling voter turnout to a combination of disillusionment, indifference, or a sense of futility – the feeling that an individual’s vote will not make a difference.
“‘For election officials and others working to maximize voter participation, these survey results provide clear direction on the messages most likely to get infrequent voters to participate in the upcoming election, and on the messages that will motivate more nonvoters to register,’ stated the [California Voter Foundation], noting that there are 6.4 million Californians who are eligible but unregistered to vote.
That’s a huge amount: 6.4 million. And how many more in the greater U.S. stand back as well?
The number, no doubt, is staggering – staggering because of how much power those people hold in their hands but don’t employ.
It reminds me of an equally pressing problem: the many Americans who don’t understand the potential power of their portfolios.
Let me explain…
Power to Your Portfolio
Hello. My name is Brad Thomas. I cover real estate investing for Forbes, and my work has been featured in Kiplinger’s, U.S. News & Report, and Money Magazine.
I’ve also been named a #1 Analyst on Seeking Alpha, and I co-coauthored The Intelligent REIT Investor – a book that’s changed how people see their investment opportunities.
For more than 25 years, I’ve worked in the trenches as a real estate developer, broker, and investor for a long list of clients – many of them Fortune 500 companies.
I’ve been involved in all facets of real estate and, truth be told, have done more deals than I can count over the course of my career. But it’s real estate investment trusts, or REITs, that have made the most lasting difference in my life in this regard.
And I’m as certain as I can be that they can make a lasting difference in yours as well.
To quote REIT expert and advocate Nareit, these amazing vehicles “historically have delivered competitive total returns, based on high, steady dividend income and long-term capital appreciation. Their comparatively low correlation with other assets also makes them an excellent portfolio diversifier that can help reduce overall portfolio risk and increase returns.”
In short, they provide big-deal opportunities for your dollars to count in utterly optimal ways.
But they require that you act on them. The sooner the better too. They’re paying out dividends every quarter or every month.
How many have you missed already? How much stronger and more profitable could your portfolio be today?
And, more importantly… How much stronger and more profitable can your portfolio be tomorrow?
See what 2020 can truly hold.
